No denying it, Leonardo da Vinci was an incredible artist. BUT did you know that experts attribute much of his proficiency as an artist to his obsessive scientific studies and observations? In a time when it was not considered quite ethical to dissect human corpses, Leonardo da Vinci reportedly dissected more than thirty bodies and studied various body systems including skeletal, muscular, and cardiovascular. He did considerable research into the functioning of the heart, and much of his work was remarkably accurate. Da Vinci was the first to characterize the heart as a four-chambered organ and the asynchronous process of atrial and ventricular contraction; and, perhaps most notable from his work in cardiology, he was the first to describe, in detail, coronary artery disease as a cause of death. 🫀

A blending of Leonardo da Vinci's passions, "Work of Heart" is a perfect shade of scarlet with chocolate and eggplant speckles.

Each skein of hand-dyed yarn is designed with precision and care, but variations among individual skeins may vary.
