March 2021 | Inspired by Caitlin, Full Stack Developer at Leidos
Caitlin is a Full Stack Developer with extensive experience in web design and user interface systems. With a background in religious education and a degree in multidisciplinary studies, Caitlin exemplifies the inherent truth that passion and creative thinking can go a long way when choosing a career in STEM.
Caitlin started out by competing in web design competitions throughout high school, at which point it was just a hobby. In college, she happened to take a job on the university's web team and helped to completely redesign the university website. From there, she went on to grow her career as a web developer at other companies.
When asked what she would say to young girls interested in pursuing STEM, Caitlin said: "There is no one way to start a career in STEM. I don't have a Bachelor's in Science. I only took one Computer Science class in college. If you have a passion for STEM, but you don't have the education to back it up, you can still enter the field if you can demonstrate that you have experience and genuine enthusiasm." 💪
