For those unfamiliar, the Fibonacci sequence is a series of numbers in which a value is equal to the sum of the two preceding values: 0, 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21, 34, … you get the idea! The ratio for this sequence, 1.618, is called the “Golden Ratio.” ✨ But why is this sequence/ratio so significant? Turns out, it can be found throughout nature and has also been incorporated into art and music for centuries. Some of the most popular music falls in line with Fibonacci, leading experts to believe that’s why we love the pieces so much: simply put, they’re pleasing to our ears. Listen closely to Mozart’s Piano Sonata No 1 in C Major… within the first movement, he arranged it so that the number of bars in the “development and recapitulation” part (62 bars) divided by the number of bars in the “exposition” part (38 bars) would equal an approximation of the Golden Ratio. 🤯 Another crazy fact… Lady Gaga’s song “Perfect Illusion” has an “extremely bold” key change 111 seconds into her 179 second song which is - you guessed it! - another approximation of the Golden Ratio. So even modern musicians are using Fibonacci! 🤯🤯
